As we begin preparing for this year’s upcoming summer program, we are taking a look back at past summers that students have spent with us. Our summer program provides full-day childcare beginning at 8:00 a.m., and students must be picked up by 5:30 p.m. Throughout the day, we serve breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack. We follow the guidelines of the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) to ensure that our students receive nutritious and well-balanced meals.
During the summer, we provide many of the same learning opportunities that we offer during our main program year. We focus on fun and educational activities through STEM, SPARK, Healthy Habits, tutoring services, and much more. Our students continue to receive the academic support they may need even when school is not in session.
We are also able to provide fun activities outside of the center during the summer. In the past, we have taken field trips to places such as the pool, a baseball game, and an art museum. We love being able to offer these activities that we usually cannot during the school year due to time constraints. We have also welcomed special guests to the Bob Burdette Center who bring the fun to us—like last summer, when Hercules the Airport Dog came to visit.
After reflecting on the fun we have had in the past, we are so excited for this upcoming summer program! We will be sharing information about the 2026 Summer Program soon.
