In Our Garden

In Our Garden :

“In a garden, there’s a variety of fruits and vegetables. All different sizes, colors, and taste. All different but they compliment each other to make the Garden a beautiful and viable environment. I can’t help but to also think of the Bob Burdette Center, especially during our Summer Program, as a garden. Some kids, like peppers, have spicy personalities. Others, like watermelon, are very kind and sweet. Not all go to the same schools during the school year, yet they play with one another like they’ve been friends for years.”

Our Summer Program kicked off on Monday, July 1st. One of the activities the kids will be observing this Summer is the progression of our own Community Garden located on the corners of Bream Street and Hull street on the West Side of Charleston. When fruits and vegetables start to produce, the community, along with our Bob Burdette Center families, are all welcome to take whatever they need from the garden. It’s another wonderful way to have different communities come together, and another beautiful reminder to us all that no matter any differences, when we all come together, we can create something incredible.
