The garden is a project we have been successful with for the past two years, and we are excited to announce that we will be bringing it back for its third year! Our Community Garden is located at the corner of Bream Street and Hull Street on the West Side of Charleston. This garden is not only a way to support the local community, but also a way to encourage kids to become interested in gardening and food production.
The kids in our program have the opportunity to experience the garden and learn more about nutrition. During our summer program, students get hands-on experience and can see the garden in full bloom.
One of our goals with the garden is to get kids interested in how vegetables are grown, helping them become more excited about eating them. We strive to make gardening fun and engaging so kids can learn about nutrition and become more active in their food choices.
Our community garden allows us to give back to the West Side community and to the families of the Bob Burdette Center. We are excited to get back into the garden soon and look forward to sharing updates with our community.
