One-to-One Tutoring

At the Bob Burdette Center, tutoring is one of the core services we are proud to provide. In the past, we offered a three-to-one tutoring model, where one tutor worked with three students at a time. This small-group approach allowed students to receive targeted academic support and better understand challenging concepts.

However, even in a small group, it can be difficult to fully meet the unique learning needs of each individual student. That’s why we’ve made a meaningful shift—from three-to-one tutoring to one-to-one tutoring—to better serve our students and help them thrive.

Why One-to-One?

One-to-one tutoring is one of the most impactful academic tools we offer. With this model, each student receives dedicated attention from a tutor who works with them individually. This personalized approach allows students to be met exactly where they are—academically, emotionally, and developmentally.

Research consistently shows that one-to-one tutoring can significantly boost academic performance and increase students’ confidence. At the Bob Burdette Center, we’ve already seen how powerful this approach can be.

One-to-one tutoring enables tutors to provide immediate, tailored feedback—a key component of effective learning. Unlike in larger classroom or group settings, students can ask questions freely and get instant clarification. Our tutors support students with homework, reinforce classroom lessons, and help break down complex ideas in a way that makes sense to each learner.

Not only does one-on-one tutoring allow tutors to tailor instruction to individual learning styles, but it can also allow tutors to connect lessons to students’ interests. At the Bob Burdette Center, we strive to create an environment where learning is not only effective but also enjoyable. One-to-one tutoring helps us do just that.
