Pinewood Derby at Bob Burdette Center

Boy Scout Logo

Recently, Scouting America brought excitement and creativity to the Bob Burdette Center with a classic Pinewood Derby event. A Pinewood Derby is a racing competition where participants build small, gravity-powered cars from a block of pine wood, following specific size and weight guidelines. It’s a fun and educational tradition that encourages craftsmanship, problem-solving, and a little friendly competition.

Participants at the Bob Burdette Center spent time designing, sanding, painting, and fine-tuning their wooden racers before gathering at the track to see whose car would cross the finish line first. Cheers and laughter filled the room as the cars sped down the slope, and every participant walked away proud of their creation.

Events like these not only teach valuable skills but also strengthen the sense of community and confidence among youth. We’re grateful to Scouting America for bringing this exciting tradition to the Center!
